Methods Patients were randomly assigned to either a bi‐weekly (190) or 4‐weekly (160) prophylaxis program.
Participants 360 patients 4‐20 years old.
Interventions 1. Benzathine penicillin G i.m. 2‐weekly. 
 2.Benzathine penicillin G i.m. 4weekly
Outcomes Streptococcal throat infections 
 Rheumatic fever recurrence
Notes The authors do not give adequate detail on baseline characteristics but they state that the 2 prophylaxis groups had comparable age, sex ratio and were more or less matched with regard to social status, initial diagnosis and duration of rheumatic fever. Study duration was 2 years.
