ERRATUM

PMCID: PMC2636527

In: Rockhill B, Newman B, Weinberg C. The use and misuse of population attributable fractions. Am J Public Health. 1998;88:15–19.

An equation was printed incorrectly. On page 16, column 1, paragraph 1 under “Basic Computational Issues,” the equation should read:

graphic file with name 2119equ1.jpg

Lines 5–12 should read: where P(D) is the average probability of disease in the population (containing both exposed and unexposed individuals) over a specified time interval and Inline graphic represents the marginal conditional probability of disease given no exposure, averaged over strata of other risk factors or confounders (C).

The results and conclusions are not affected by this correction.
